and that they are Reddy Ducks. May-31. A ♂ Wnt.yellow-throat was Closely observed today in low- brush in sand on overflowed land near river. It was accompanied by a paler colored bird - I think a ♀ of this species but I could not get a good look at the other bird. The chirping notes which both uttered were quite dissimilar. Apr-2. Went to Monterey and in a curio store saw many local birds that I had not met with or were not well acquainted with, some were as follows:- Pacific & Red-throated Loon, Horned and Western Grebe - Horned Puffin, Bairds and Brandt's Cormorant ♂♀ Merganser, Am. Long-eared Owl - Cal. Poor Will, Cal. W.N. Am. Herring, Glaucon-winged Herman & FB Bonaparte's Gulls.
