77 Feathers had a very narrow edg- Ing of the same. I think from Cody's rather meager, description they are q Niccolored. Length- 7/35, Extent- 13.25 inches. Feb-13. Quite a good many Titlarks were seen about edge of water of slough along river and also about drift nearby searching, I think for insects. Nearly ever piece of wood or drift that we turned over harbored "water- Insects" of a certain species for which I know no name. The birds were after these "bug" I think. A very large & Sharp-shinned Hawk- in immature very dark plumage - shot at sand-hill today. Mar.28- On road to town today saw two brilliant-colored ducks in Tembladero plough near where I have seen a pair for several years. I think they Nest here
