62 Oct 14 Went over to beach Hermanns and other Gulls plentiful. A thin stream of sea birds flying up the coast quite close To Shore and very low. Two birds brought me. A Teal and a Black-bellied Plover. The latter a young bird I think. Went to beach in P. M. and shot 2 Red-bellied Sandpipers. Two "Jack Snipe" shot proved to be Long billed Dowitchers. Perhaps all of the "Jack Snipe" are Dowitchers. Oct 23 On beach today saw a large black and white bird that may have been a "merganser". Oct 24 Went over to beach today in A.M. and saw a string of birds flying northward quite close to shore. In P.M. no continuous string of birds flying in one direction.
