conditions:- Moderate temperature; windy all day,
particularly in the morning, which is unusual;
overcast.
As the water was high along the mole this
morning no birds were noted.
In the evening I crossed to Oakland
mole on the 5.20 P.M. steamer. Several
Larus californicus and Larus delawarensis
and two or three adult Larus occidentalis
were noted off the San Francisco water front.
When close to Oakland Mole three Larus
hermanni passed, as flying westward over
the water.
September 1, 1907.
E. Alameda, bay.
It was quite warm, but with the usual
westerly wind in the afternoon.
At the foot of the street in the early after-
noon I saw two curlew (Numenius hudson-
icus ?) fly by. An immature Larus phil-
adelpheia flew about over a boy in swimming,
although it was hit with mud each time.
It was flying ten or 15 feet above the water.
