Conditions :- Overcast; neet wind; moderate tempera-
ture.
In the morning there was not much beach
exposed near the roundhouse but what little
was had a good number of Larus californicus
on it. An Ardea herodias was standing in the shallow water
as the train passed. Many of the gulls flew up during its closeness to the train.
In the evening a few Larus californicus, both
adult and immature, were seen while crossing the
bay. When off Goat Island, we saw two gulls
flying close to the water like Larus heermanni.
Near the mole this evening I saw a Reter-
actitis means.
