72. Station, I saw about a dozen Larus philadelphia at the water's edge. On the day in the evening, two or three adult Larus occidentalis and Larus heermanni were seen. July 9, 1907. Alameda to and from San Francisco, cal. Conditions: - Same as yesterday. In the evening three or four adult Larus occidentalis and Larus heermanni were seen. July 10, 1907. July 15, 1907. This morning while going along the mole I saw 2 flocks of large shore birds (about beach) flying southeast high in the air. In the evening on the north side of Oakland creek I saw about three hundred gulls in a compact flock arise from the sand. They were apparently all Larus heermanni. July 18, 1907. Between Cornwall and Antioch, Contra Costa Co., cal. along the line of S. P. R. R. track I saw several (twenty or so) ducks in some fresh water ponds.
