Larus philadelphia. Quite common. One white-
headed one seen. singly and in small flocks.
Noted several flying along somewhat like fulmars
for a moment or two.
Oidemia perspicillata. Four passed off Goat
Island going NW.
Along the mole a few ducks were seen
off at a great distance off on the water. Those
close enough for identification looked
like Kaup Ducks.
April 28, 1907.
Alameda, Cal.
Conditions:- Moderate temperature; westerly wind;
clear. Rowed from foot of Chestnut St.
up the canal to the foot of Briggs Avenue.
Quite a number of Larus philadelphia
were observed all the way along. Both white-
headed and hooded. Some on the water. A white-
headed one was sitting on the water, trying to
get away with something too large for it, when
a hooded one came along and attempted to
drive it away.
