roundhouse-there were a good many swale
Tringa and a few gulls this morning. The
same species were observed this evening
but in greater numbers.
On the bay this evening the following
species were observed:-
Larus glaucussens. As usual: Several
stood on the piles as the boat left the
slips allowing it to pass within half a
dozen feet of them. All were immature.
Occasionally one standing peacefully on
a pile is driven from it by another cow
at him and uttering a sharp squawk
just as it is about to alight, apparently
on the other's back.
Larus occidentalis. An adult seen flying
about in front of the slips.
Larus Californicus. Abundant as usual. Several
immature once seen. It is common thing
each evening to see quite a few of this species
on the water all the way across, both singly
and in flocks.
