6:00 A.M. to 2:08 P.M.
Conditions:- Warm; windy in the afternoon; Clear.
The following species were observed:-
Gavia immer. One near R.R. draw.
Gavia lumme. A few. One shot with considerable
grey on the throat.
Gulls. Quite a few. - Larus glaucous and Larus californicus
Larus philadelphia. One.
Sterna forsteri. A few. There were several flying about
near Melrose slough. Some were chasing each other. They
were crying very much like Phaethon aetheres.
Bormosanto. A few.
Mergus serrator. A few. Two or three fine adult males.
Querquedula cyanoptera. Two. A male and female. Female
in poor condition.
Spatula clypeata. A few flying south.
Aythya valisineria. Common.
Aythya marila. Abundant.
Aythya affinis. A few.
Blangula blangula. A few.
Ereunatura jamaicensis. A few.
Ardea herodias. A few.
Nycticorax nycticorax. A few.
Macrorhamphus scolopaceus. A few. Two taken in high
plumage and one in worn plumage.
Actodromas minutilla? Both species getting into breed
Ereunetes occidentalis Sing plumage.
