Larus californicus, common
Delawarensis. A few.
" heermannii. One off Goat Island.
Ducks. Two or three.
Ardea herodias. 10 beside mole in shallow water.
While waiting I saw a flock of about 20 ducks
passing south. They were at quite a distance.
OCT 27 1904
San Leandro Bay, Alameda Co., Cal.
6:00 A.M. to 10:00 A.M.
Conditions: - Foggy clearing towards noon; no wind;
moderate temperature.
The first birds I saw were four Nycticorax
nycticorax heading towards their rookery. Along
the Alameda shore I saw a few large shore
birds, some Squatarola squatarola, a good
many Pelidna alpina and a few Actodromas
minutilla, and also one Ardea herodias.
In Melrose Slough I observed about 40
Squatarola squatarola, 3 or 4 Ardea herodias,
many Pelidna alpina & Actodromas minutilla,
