7:00 A.M. to 8:00 A.M.
Conditions:- Foggy; rather cold; light wind.
I saw a good many grebes along the mole. Many
would dive as the train passed. Larus californicus
was very common on the bay; Larus delawarensis
not so much so. These gulls still continue to
follow the steamers. There were a good many
gulls & ducks, mostly scoters on the water. Scoters
and other ducks were seen passing south occasionally.
I saw about 50 ducks passing south in one a flock.
A few others straggled along. A few were passing
north.
I have seen gulls quite abundant on the roofs of
the dock sheds during the last two weeks.
