the boat. Larus californicus and Larus delawarensis
were common. I saw one Larus hermanni.

San Leandro Bay, Alameda, Cal.
Conditions: - clear; warm; no wind.
In the backyard I saw two Zonotrichia leucophrys. Pacer
domesticus was abundant. I saw a beryle alcyon on a walk
over the water. On the Alameda shore we saw a few Squatarola
squatarola and a good many Eremnetes occidentalis.
In Melrose slough and the vicinity saw the following birds:-
Larus, 1; Sterna forsteri, about twelve, fishing; Phalacrocorax,
1, coming from the canal; Eriornithura jamaicensis, one out in
San Leandro Bay; Ardea herodias, a few, one was exceedingly
easy to approach; Nycticorax nycticorax, 2 or 3; Rallus obso-
letus, 2 or 3 at the edge of the marsh; Macrorhamphus scolo-
pacaeus, about 12 in one flock, saw 3 or 4 stragglers; Actodro-
mas minutilla, common but not abundant; Delidna alpi-
na, about 12; Eremnetes occidentalis, Abundant; Limosa fedoa,
about 12; Numenius longirostris, one; Symphemia semipal-
mata, common; Aegialitis semipalmata, two; Squatarola
squatarola, common.
At home I saw an Astragalinus fedrigon and cosmos
lush.
