60. I saw a good many Symphenia semipalmata, two or three snipe, and two or three Numenius hudsonicus. In Melrose slough I saw:- Squatarola squatarola. A few. Symphenia semipalmata. Common. Aegialitis semipalmata. Common. Creunetes occidentalis. Abundant. Actodromas minutilla. Common. Numenius hudsonicus. A few. Snipe. Three. As the tide flooded the birds gradually disappeared, there being no longer any mud exposed. I saw three large flocks of ducks numbering about twenty in all. Aug. 23, 1904. San Leandro Bay, Alameda Co., bal. Conditions:- 7:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. Overcast; warm; nowwd. In the slough north of San Leandro slough I saw, and shot some of the following birds:- Tringa canutus.
