59. I saw one Rallus obsoletus in San Leandro sloughs. Passer domesticus is very abundant in town. I saw one Giplofuscus on High Street this evening. My attention was attracted to it by its bell-like note. Aug. 20, 1904. San Leandro Bay, Alameda Co., Cal. Conditions: - 11:00 A. M. to 4:00 P. M. Clear; warm; west wind increasing towards afternoon. In Melrose slough I saw the following birds:- Aegialitis semipalmata. Common. Actodromas minutilla. A few. Creunetes occidentalis. Common. Numenius hudsonicus. A few. Limosa fedoa. A few. Symphenia semipalmata. Common. Squatarola squatarola. Common. Rallus obsoletus. A few. Nycticorax nycticorax. A few. Ardea herodias. A few. Hirundo erythrogaster. A few. Snipe. A few.
