Euphagus cyanocephalus. A flock of about a dozen flew
by overhead to the southward.
Carpodacus mexicanus. A few at the pear trees eat-
ing the fruit.
Passer domesticus. Abundant.
Pipilo fuscus. Two in a peach tree in the yard.
Salypto anna [?]. I saw one sucking honey from the
flowers of a tree-mallow. I stood within five feet of
the bird during the entire performance.
Alameda, Cal.
Conditions:- About 11:00 A. M. Hot; clear; light west breeze.
I saw a good many Hirundo erythrogaster flying around
high up in the air, seeming to enjoy the beautiful morn-
ing.
A few Euphagus cyanocephalus passed by high up in
the air.
Alameda to San Francisco, Cal.
Conditions:- 6:00 P. M. to 7:00 P. M. Warm; clear; good west
wind blowing. Tide flooding.
I saw a few Larus occidentalis and Larus heermanni
on the bay.

cold; good west wind blowing.
I saw a small flock of Carpodacus mexicanus peck-
ing at the fruit on a pear tree. Passer domesticus was
also on hand.
