Brewer Blackbirds in droves. Crows very abt.
Many Ann. Egrets & Blue Herons. Coots.
Felt more quite green. The eye showed some red.
A group of Tri-colored Redwing were in
the standing Tules. They twitched their
tails constantly. In the folded wing only
the white showed. The females looked
much smaller and were heavily streaked.
At Marsh Creek we lunch near a swollen
stream on this cross-road to Livermore.
Very warm - (the sun melted the chocolate
on some candy). Lark Sparrows, Tribunes,
Varied Thrushes etc seen
a pigeon hawk flew from tree where
stuffed
At San Pablo Reservoir; not counted
65 American Merganser, five males -
They did a great deal of splashing.
One Ring-necked Duck, a few Puddle. Many
& Far. Comorants, 1 W. Grebe, 7 Pied-b. Grebes,
a few Canada Geese. (no Pintails seen)
1 Ann. Egret, several Blue Herons.
Along the way Shrikes, Sparrow Hawks
Meadowlarks, Robins (everywhere), Linnets
(some singing).
Feb. 1-11 Rain except for two or three days.
Feb. 8. We drove to Santa Cruz - very little
rain. On the West Cliff tide was very
high and no birds except one bunch of Sand-
erling, gulls on the water, a few Commo-
rants and Scoters. At Boulder Creek
we found a huge live oak near Mr.
Windleble's barn had fallen and closed
our road. Sparrow Hawks abundant
along the highway. In Alameda pools - Coots,
Yellowlegs, Pintails, Bk. Plover
