8 Avocets in our group near the Cannation reeds.
8 Terns in our group (probably Forsters though
they looked small). Some Red backed, W.B.L. Sand,
Ducks; Blue bills, Canvas backs.)
Berkeley - Cold with N.W. wind.
To the north in the distance there were huge
flocks of very white birds (not gulls) flying in
formation (like sandpipers) and settling. Too
far away for identification. (Avocets?)
Mar. 11. Clear. Less wind. Allen Hummers went to
Tilden Park.
Bird List: Redtails - 1 pr. soaring.
Zuikel
Anna, Allen, Rufous Hummers.
Flicker, Black Phoebe,
Calif. Jay, Coast Jay,
Titmouse, Bush tit, Wrentit,
Vigors Wren, Ruby c., *Golden-crowned Kinglets,
*Hutton Vireo, Lutescent Vireo, Warblers
Calif. Purple Finch, Junco, Siskin,
Brown & Spotted Towhee, Juncoes, Song sp.
Humming birds were very conspicuous, doing the
pendulums near a perched Calif. Jay. Female
Anna's were seen.
Golden-crowned Kinglets (8-10) feeding in a live oak tree.
Hutton Vireo, in the willows & oaks. Song and
Call note heard. Came very close to me.
Lutescent Warblers were spaced for meeting and
singing freely. Juncoes & Bush tits in flocks.
Titmouse, Vigors Wren, Doug sp. singing.
