As we returned to the Greene Caves There
were many Anderson Warblers and Birds.
19 species. Esp. Varied Thrush, G.c. Kinglets.
Dec. 13: I heard a Grackle in the brush across
Mosswood Rd. It called several times.
Clear, Air crisp. Warm in the sunshine.
Dec. 16: We drove to Boulder Creek and back. We
stopped at Mt. View Marsh and Dumbarton
Bridge on the way back.
Mt. View Marsh: Tide 6:3 at 10:21 a.m.
Reached the marsh at 3:00 p.m. Still
plenty of water but birds were most
numerous at some distance from road.
Very abundant. Near the fence: Drabblers,
Red-backed and Western Sandpipers, Some
Willets and Bk. Plover. A few Godwits
and both kinds of Curlew but these were
more abundant farther out. Also Avocets,
many more than earlier. More gulls
than usual. I didn't see any Least
Sandpipers near the road. It is the
Godwit that shows the dark spot on
the forward part of the wing when it
flies.
Dumbarton Bridge: Eared Grebes 250t,
They were diving very actively as I could
not tell whether the allons was there.
Avocets - very closely bunched 350t.
Willets 150t. No Sandpipers seen.
10 Pintails near roadway. No Pel, Egrets.
