Along the way L.H. counted 21 Sparrow Hawks.
Pipits in outdoor theater at Stamford. Also
Calif. Woodpeckering, Titmouse, Robins, Shrikes,
And Warblers, Gambel Sparrows. G.b. Goldfinches.
Dec. 9, 10. Rain. Warm.
Dec. 12. Codornices Park. Faculty Group. Clear. Cool.
The first bird we saw was a Varied Thrush,
immature, perched in a willow near
the stream. It was perfectly motionless.
and allowed me to go to the base of the
Tree before it flew into a lotion nearby.
A Ruby-crowned Kinglet was near by and
one Audubon Warbler.
We walked some distance up stream
before we found another bird. Then we
Came upon a flock of Brush Tits and
near their R.c. Kinglets, Brown and Sp.
Titmice, Song Sparrows (singing), Wren-Tit,
and G.c. and Gambel (not pug) Sparrows
Singing. The Gambel song:
On the Trail across the stream we came
upon a group of Golden-crowned Kinglets.
Going on up stream we came to large
groups of Crowned Sparrows and saw
Two Fox Sparrows. Also a flock of Siskins.
As we walked up Tamalpais Rd there
were more Crowned Sparrows, one English
Sparrow, and in the brush trees two
G.b. Goldfinches were eating seeds of Birch.
