Transcription
Sparrow Hawk (very dull color, no grey), Calif. Woodpecker,
Wren. W. Virgin Wren, more Aus. Warblers. Brown
and Spotted Towhees. (On the water Bandtails (100s)
Baldpates, Ruddies(a few), 4 Lesser Scaup, Costs,
Farellow Cormorants, 1t. Blue Heron, several
Ann. Egrets, Eared Grebes (a few) 2lt. Yellowlers,
Killdeer, Sandpipers. Clear N.W. wind, Cool.
Dwail. G.C. Knight's Pipits 37 species
Oct. 28. Santa Cruz. W. Cliff Drive. Birds
very ab. Tide very low - as low as I have
ever seen it there. (Low -0.1- about 4:28 p.m.)
Brom Pelicans, Far. Cormorants, 1 Heermann Gulls,
Western Grebes all very numerous - (in the
sea-weed beach where we usually find
Bandersnatch, they were esp. ab., 500+ and
about 24 Black Turnstones (probably wok
for they watch the seaweed as exactly it
is difficult to see them). Very warm.
Oct. 29. Boulder Creek. Heard Varied Thrushes, first
time this winter. W-W Wren below cottage.
Beautiful weather.
Berkeley quite hot at 4:30 p.m.
Nov. 1. Berkeley. Heard a Red-breasted Nuthatch in the
pines above Monwood Rd.
Nov. 7. Warm all the past week. Many Fox
Sparrows come to the table and to the pool.
