Box near a second story window (S.) and one pair took possession. The female began immediately & carry in sticks. James thinks he has heard an owl in thime at night. A Spotted Towhee sings constantly from the bingle west of the house and I suspect a Caly Jay has a nest near the kitchen window. A Tolmie Warbler sings occasionally at the end of Moonwood Road but I seldom hear either the Paleolated or Lutescent Warbler - usually abundant here. On April 20 both the Hermit Thrush and Fox Sparrow were there. Robins very familiar in the garden, picking up worms. April 22. Boulder Creek. Cloudy, damp - at 6:30 p.m a Purset-Voiced Thrush began to call in the redwoods back of the cottage. A little later James heard it sing - Harris Wood perch and near the dead willows when it nests. April 23. Cloudy all the morning - Baking. Birds singing: Western Flycatcher, Black- Throated Gray and Paleolated Warblers, Warbling and Cassin Vireos, (Olive-sided) Flycatcher, Erosbeak. Calls: Kingfisher, Chuckadeer, Bushtits, Hummingbird (sp.?), P.D. Thrush, Spotted Towhee. Quite a chorus at dawn. April 25 - Barkley Clear with cool breeze. I heard Towhees Warblers. Bluejays building a nest in oak tree north of house. House Wrens seem to have left the Flicker box. Saw female go into Titmouse box (belostrous)
