April 6 - Beginning of Easter Holiday. We took
a day's trip to Clear Lake and back.
Perfect weather. After we passed the summit
of the pass over Mt. St. Helena we found
dogwood in bloom. Noticed also a Couper
and a shrub.
As we neared the Lake Co. boundary Redbird
was in full bloom and looked very beau-
tiful among the many spring shades of
green - also against the blue sky. It
was very abundant on the slopes as we
came to the lake. We stopped for lunch on
the Lake Shore and in the cattails there was a
pair of Yellow-headed Blackbirds - possibly two
pairs - Also Redwings, Tree Swallows and
Lewis Woodpeckers. Western Grebes were calling.
