W. Winter Wren singing excitedly near a rotting
log on Lot 6 at Sanjore Verde; Hermit Thrush
(rare, one heard); Waxwings (one flock);
Cipits at Dunn. Warbling Vireo (first heard this
spring. At Sanjore Verde; Cassia Vireo ditto,
Lutescent Warbler, Pileated Warbler " ),
Redwing Brewer Blackbirds - single pairs of flocks;
Eng Sparrows (building under tile on Charles Store
in Boulder Creek. They got material from a
blossoming acacia tree). Calif Purple Finch
(singing at B.C.); House Finch S. Clara V. T Dunn
St. Goldfinch, Spotted Towhee, Brown Towhee,
Pt. P. Junco, Purget Ed. Sparrows (at, in S.C. Valley);
B.c. Sparrows (near Haywards); Song Sparrow B.C.

April 3. The Chat Club spent the morning
in Codornices Park. The reservoir was
being repaired (following a fire which turned
the new cover) so we were working
against the noise of many engines. Birds
were very abundant. Permanent Residents
Willow woodpecker (heard), Titmouse ,
Brush ht, Wrentit, Vagans Vireo, Robin, Eng. Sparrow,
Calif. Purple Finch, Linnet, Willow Goldfinch (heard),
Spotted Brown Towhee, Pt. P. Junco, S.C. Song Sparrow
Winter visitants; Hermit Thrush (scarce). Ruby-crowned
Kinglet ab. singing; Audubon Warbler (females in breeding
plumage (no songs heard); Gambel Sparrow, Purget Sound
Sparrow and Golden-crowned Sparrow - all three ab. and
circling. Fox Sparrow heard.
