1. Loon (Common? D.m.) one at Moss Landing. Large
2. Horned Grebe : Two at Moss Landing - A larger area
of white on the cheeks and neck ; a larger head,
and less trim body distinguish it from the Eared.
I would think that bird > saw near the
Coast South of San Francisco on Sept 7, 1939
were this same species.
3. Eared Grebe, 4 Pied-billed Grebe both at Moss Ldg.
5. Brown Pelican 1 at Carmel
6. Baird Cormorant - many at Carmel & Pacific Grove
7. Brandt Cormorant - a few
8. St. Blue Heron - one at Monterey
9. American Egret - several at Moss Landing w. plumes
10. Snowy Egret - two at Moss Landing
on short
11. Black-crowned Night Herons - 2 on rocks at Carmel.
12. Mallard - Eslino in Monterey
13. Green-winged Teal - several pair at Carmel River.
14. Cinnamon Teal, several pair at Mt. Eden, 1 pr. at Carmel R,
15. Shovelers - still abt. at Mt. Eden.
16. Pintail - hits at Monterey
17. Canvasbacks - (Mt.Eden?) Moss Landing
18. Lesser Scaup - Monterey
19. Am. Golden-eye - several
