August 20. Berkeley. 5:15 to 6 a.m., Wrentits (2) and Thrasher singing almost continuously — A Grosbeak called repeatedly. Later, a (Bourne) Willow Woodpecker pecked away at the back edge (underside) of the cover of the tinhouse box. Dullerent Warblers are about. Saw a group of Wrentits chase each other in the brush across the road. Were the parents trying to drive the young out of the home territory?
Aug. 24 — many warblers about.
