Farallone and Brandt's. Many Hermann's Gulls.
Aug.31: Thrushes numerous after three or four weeks
of absence. More warblers heard. Thrushes
sing continuously in early morning. Wrentits often
Song Sparrow. A Thrasher at the pool had many
loose feathers in middle of back.
Sept.4 Leslie Salt Pools (between Alvarado &
Dunn Bridge) 10:30 a.m. Clear, warm.
200+ Avocets (lapping up, many of them)
1 Greater Yellowlegs - first seen this fall.
1 Anh. Egret
6 Willets
8+ Ducks on water (Pintails)
60+ in flight (3 large groups 15-20ea.
6 small " 3-6 ea.)
Black-crowned Night Herons
St. Blue Herons -
Dumbarton Bridge. 11 a.m. Great increase
in number of birds, esp. W. Pelicans
and Ducks. Ducks were too far away
to identify satisfactorily. Saw Pintails clearly.
Probably Sponsbills also.
600+ White Pelicans.
6 Tailed Grebes (probably more but less easily
seen because of the abundance of
other birds).
100+ Willets - very noisy (birds of this year?)
40+ Least Sandpipers
1 Forster's Tern
2000+ Chalapopes
500+ Ducks.
