June. 1921. Berkeley.
June 14. Young wrens in nesting box on
house very noisy - Both parents very
busy feeding. Lutescent Warbler singing.
June 15. Weather partly cloudy. Cool west wind.
Watched wrens feeding from 10:20-11:20.
Food given -
Woody bear 1, Lady bugs - 5, Crane flies,
Large beetles 5, Small beetles 4, wire
flies 2, Lace wings 1. Leaf hopper 1,
Crickets 5, Grasshoppers 1, 1 large beetle
delivered, then removed. Butterfly 1,
Moth 1, Millipedes 1, grub 1.
Secreta removed to.
At 3 p.m. banded the 2 parents and
eight young.
Painted - Fell from drymieso late p.m.
June 16. Elizabeth Ferguson's wedding. Spent day
in bed. Heard very few birds in early
morning. Cloudy. Thrush par up canyon.
Later heard Blue-sided Flycatcher call
"jumpip" a few times.
June 17. Wrens flew. James saw two fly
after 2 p.m. Edith left for Yvonne's
June 18. Warm. Resting most of the time
but miserable.
