March. 1921. Berkeley.
Feb.28. Sharp-shinned Hawk came into bush
near pool, slipping up the hill along
the water pipes. Flew up to lower
branches of oak tree then across to the
next tree, remaining there ten to fifteen
minutes. Other birds flew as he came.
Mar.2. Children from Miss Place's School
brought a Sharp-shinned Hawk for
me to stuff. They said it flew very
suddenly against the casing of the
door and fell inside dead. Tarsus and
cere of bill light bright green. Eyes
lively-colored. Iris bright yellow.
March 3. Made study skin of Sh.sh.hawk
Skull very broad between eyes. Lachry-
mal bone projecting to side over eye.
Tongue blunt, thickens at either side.
March 4. Cloudy- Rained a little. Saw a
Blue jay tear bark from a bare tree
and take it high into a pine tree
in N. Berkeley - I house now at Mrs. Gregory.
March 5. Showers
March 7. Cloudy-cooler.
March 9. Great flocks of Robins on Campus-
Also Cedar Waxwings. Found a Townsend
Solitaire on the Right of Way between
