Went in afternoon with Schell family to Miss Handersides in Oakland. Aviary contains about 140 birds, foreign finches, canaries etc, pair of button quail, 1 lazuli bunting, female Black-b. Grosbeak, 1 junco. Ranied at night. Feb. 21. Clear. N.W. wind. Cool. Feb. 22. Went by boat to Vallejo, Car to Napa, lunched in Napa cemetery re- turned to Napa and by boat to S.F. Warm - beautiful day. 400-600 Surf Scoters near Angel Island. Au bay, Caly. Gull, Western and Glacous-w. Gulls. Ringbills and Bonapartes near Mare Island. A few Commons. Birds in the cemetery at Napa: Robins, Bluebirds, Hermit Thrush, Quail,
