Oct. 1920 - Berkeley.
Oct. 14. Clear, crisp. Ruby-crowned Knight in oak
near widow. A number of Varied Thrushes
in canyon, some very near house. I seen,
many heard. Many Y-e. Sp., Dut. Sp., Fox Sp.
about the house. Miss Wythe reported
Hermit Thrush.
Oct. 15. Clear, crisp. Warm in middle of day.
Grass and weeds springing up - due to
recent rains. Golden-crowned Knights and juncos
seen in W. Berkeley. Ruby-crowned Knight not common
yet. No Hermit Thrush near house yet.
Oct. 16. Clear, crisp. Went thru' Claremont Hotel
grounds. Found N. Flycatcher, Pit. Warbler
and Yellow Warbler still present. Visitors
seen were Townsend Warblers (many)
Ruby-crowned Knights (many) Audubon Warblers,
Golden-crowned Sparrows, Juncos and a Cooper Hawk.
Permanent residents were Titition Vireo, Bush-tit
Sp. Thrush, Titmouse, Song Sp., Vagans Wren,
Calif. Jay, Brown Thrasher, Flicker, Black Phoebe,
Wrentit, Anna Hummingbird.
Oct. 17. 1 Golden-crowned Sp. Came to food table.
Oct. 18. several times. Head stripes indistinct.
