Jan. 14. Tule Fog over town. Clear on hill.
Varied Robin in Claremont region.
Jan. 15. Saw small flock of Sierra Crossbills
in almond trees on Panoramic Way-
Both males and females present. They
were eating almonds, noisily prying open
the shells with their bills.
Heavy tule fogs at night in valley.
Jan. 16. Warm. James taken sick, apparently
mumps. Saw a few Crossbills at
Mrs. Gregory's. Great flocks of Pine
Siskins about. Feeding in oak trees
Do a great deal of chattering. One
flock about 300. Read a letter from
Mr. J.T. Nichols asking me to report
San Francisco region for Bird Lore.
Jan. 16-Feb. 1. James very sick - Acute Bron-
chitis - got a touch of pneumonia.
Feb. 1. No rain. Wild currant, plum.
Jap. Apricots in bloom.
Feb. 8. Almond trees beginning to bloom.
Feb. 10. Cedar Waxw. on Bancroft Way.
Feb. 12. Flock of Sierra Crossbills near Heart Hall
Feb. 13. Found Allen H. with nest nearly finished
Nest contained 1 egg. Placed in geranium
under overhang over Mrs. Royes front door.
