1923 Sept. 19. Fire raged North Berkeley. Came into Strawberry Canyon also. Many hawks flying about during fire. Hot, north wind. Sept. 23 - Russet-backed Thrush heard at dam. Sept. 24 - Ruby-crowned Knight in garden. Unbanded Br. Turkey, banded Song sp. (right foot) and Vigin Wren at pool. Titmouse came to box as before. Sept. 25. Rain. Sept. 26. Fine, clear, sunny day. Robins in canyon. Sept. 28. Fox Sparrow on feeding table . Sept. 29. Fox Sparrow on table very tame but not banded Sept. 30. Golden-crowned Sparrow gave two notes of song in early morning. Heard Hermit Thrush. Went to Bannberg. Could not get to fresh water ponds but on salt water saw 124 Brobets, 3 Godwits and a few sandpipers. Also Sparrow Hawk, Sharp-sh. Hawk and Turkey Buzzard, pipits. Sept. 1. Saw Townsend Warbler from window. Oct. 2. Intermediate Sparrows singing. Thrush eating berries of wild currant. Oct. 6. 3 Fox Sparrows at fountain - no bands Oct. 10. Many but. T.G.C. Sparrows singing, songs of latter not complete. Drove over to
