gutter on to the sidewalk- Elizabeth Paine caught them and put them on the bank where the parents collected them. Blue jays were feeding young (calling loudly) in wall trees next to Faculty Club. May 12. A Blue Jay which was taking food from the table was tackled by another jay. Both birds fell to the ground under the table with their feet clenched, lying on their backs or sides. After a minute or two one broke away, the other flying after. Later, when I put out fresh bread, crumbled up, a large bright-plumaged jay packed eight pieces in his bill, and flew away with it. a moment later, another less bright came timidly, looked about carefully, took one piece and flew just before the 1st bird returned for another load. Probably two broods are being fed. Brown Forkhills attack the jays whenever they go S. E. of big oak tree. May 13, 14, 15 warm. May 16. Fog. Titinirri about box again. May 17.
