July 24. Red-sh. Flicker, Woodpecker (small), Blue-fronted
Jay, White-headed Woodp., Lincoln Sparrow - on edge
of Mt. meadow at head of large lake. Beautiful,
varied vibrant song. First identification.
Swallow - saw one near lake. White breast, dark
tack (Tree S?). Two juncos' nests, 4 eggs each.
July 25. Golden-crowned Knights heard but not seen satisfactorily.
Price Grosbeak - nest and young. Have watched
next three days. Nest in Tamarack Pine, about 35 feet
from ground. Adult comes to nest once every half hour,
flies directly to nest, feeds (two or three) birds, then
gets into nest, takes out excrement and flies
away, flying high. Calls near nest reminds
one of Bluebird's call. Young silent except for
