294 Spanned Hawk A444858 (see preceding page) Released 1/19 '40 11:30 a.m. Close to home of Miss Balderwood and Mrs. Alice Ward, south west of Mayfield (part of Palo Alto). Golden-crowned Sparrow F 119974. See Page 20. This bird banded Oct 15, 1935, several times trapped since then - always in so-called "immature" plumage. Trapped again 2/13 '40, and brought to Dr. Helen K. Miller. She found it to be "a juvenile female". It is now #3413 in his collection. (3415) (3417) Golden-crowned Sparrow F 119984, 34-119369, (3418) 37-167935 - all retrapped 3/7 '40 in "immature" plumage. Brought to Dr. Miller who found them all to be females. Numbers in brackets above Band numbers are the numbers in Miller's collection. (3419) Golden-crowned Sparrow 34-119245 and (3418) 34-119782. Retrapped 3/12 '40, and taken to Dr. Miller who found both to be females. Golden-crowned Sparrow 34-119398, Killed 4/2 '40 in a government sparrow trap by a Coast Jay, 6313043, which was also caught at same time. Eurhys Vulture 34-647478. Caught by Jack Boyer in a net in cliff at Fervell's place. He took the bird to his home in Glendale, and I mailed the band to him. (See next page)
