English Sparrows. "Observations were begun at
the Hunting Reservation in October 1937.
English Sparrows were first detected when a
pair appeared early in April 1939. Banding
of these individuals in an area so sparsely
settled as this mountain range may produce
some information concerning distributional
behavior at the margin of the range of
the species"-J.M. Riddle.
Golden-crowned Sparrows F119941 and 38-143616.
Both killed at same time in same traps on Oct. 28'39
by a Sharp-shinned Hawk. I shot the hawk.
He flew to the traps some time (about 2 hours)
later, although I had removed both birds
