292 House Wren H 97531-97536. Like H 97530, all these wrens were caught in government sharrow trap, sometimes on the ground, some- times traps was on top of my woodshed. Also H 97537-8-9.-40.-also 34-69880-also H 97541. H 97542 caught in a government sharrow trap with two junco. Golden-crowned Sharrow 34-119314, landed Oct.10 1937. This bird "returned" on Sept. 24 1938, apparently in advance of the other Golden- crowns, or no more were seen or heard by we until Oct. 2 1938. Usually large numbers appear at once. This year they did not appear in large numbers at our place until Oct. 4. House Wren H 97543 bought by E.K. Summer, Jr. in porch of his house, 4 P.m. 11/14 '38. Gulls landed at "G". Dozens of gulls of various species are caught almost daily in the hopper of the San Diego Parks Dept. at front of 8th Ave. Owing to shape of hopper at bottom (V-shaped) the gulls cannot fly out. They are then caught with a long handled wire hook by an attendant, and released.
