295 Palodena Screech Owl B646913. Caught by Jack Coupper in a hollow tree about one mile from Glendale. Kept in captivity until Aug. 8 1940, when it was banded and released. Jack writes on Aug. 13 "he still returns every night to be fed". Western Red-tailed Hawk 34-647479 This immature hawk, old enough to fly well, was found by Joe Marshall on August 24 1940, at bottom of the court of the Life Sciences Bldg., U. of C. campuls. He kept it in a cage over night. I banded it about 11 A.M. on Aug. 13d, and me released it in front of the Life Sciences Bldg. It flew from tree to tree, and finally to the roof of Ginnini Hall, where we lost sight of it. Joe Marshall reported that when he found the hawk its crop was full. Turkey Vulture 34-647478. Nuclear date of 9/10/40 Jack Coupper writes "The buzzard got loose on Aug. 14th, and several of my friends have seen it around". Gambel Ween-tit. L72877. Banded by me March 9 1934. Nuclear date of May 5 1941, F. E. Lincoln of the Fish and Wildlife Sec- sice writes the "Gambel Wen-tit no. L72877 was trapped and released about Dec. 4/1940 on the University Grounds at Berkeley. The
