part of a soap dish. When recaptured on
Poultry Laboratory grounds, October 24 1934,
the celenlord band was still attached
to right leg above the B.S. band.
A small part had chipped off, but
the band would probably have re-
mained in place some time longer.
I removed it. This band, originally
a bright red, had faded to a dingy
yellowish green.
Sreech Owls 35-510551-52. These owls,
about seven weeks old, were brought to
the July 25 1935 meeting of the Cooper
Ornithological Club, by Dr. J. C.
Reynolds of 140 Estates Drive, Piedmont.
They were passed around from hand
to hand by members of the club.
The birds did not appear to be very
much frightened, and sat perched
on the backs of chairs, when allowed
to do so, and looked very dignified.
They bit our fingers quite vigorously,
however. After the meeting the lights
were turned out, and Dr. Reynolds
held the birds while members
directed the beam of a flashlight
at them in order to see the "eye-
shine". Several of us saw this eye-
