Norm counted ~ 12 broken Sooty Tern eggs on
the ground this A.M.; there were also 6 Christmas
Island Shearwaters on the East Shore in the A.M.,
there are now two Red-tailed Tropicbirds occupying
2 different possible nest locations under the Scaevola
bush near the paint locker - neither has an egg
as yet; from 1200 to 1330 we ran the plant survey
on the first 36 mouse grid plots - we could not
follow the plan prescribed of recording units, etc., but
instead estimated the percent of each prong of the
crow occupied by each species as follows:
Plot: x
{ Lepturus: 15, 10, 10 = 35
Tribulus: 10, 10 = 20
Setaria: 20 = 20
Sesuvium: 5 = 5 }
From 1720 - 1750 we ran the last 36 plots of
the plant survey; counted the Gray-backed Tern
eggs: Islet: 7 total
Pier: 10 total, 3 new, 1 chick
the chick was given a plastic leg band (green # 101);
