Sooties were over the island in the thousands
all morning - they could be seen sitting on: (1) the east
tip of the NE peninsula, (2) the north side of the
highest point sand and (3) on the NE slope; We
expected Dave Bratley today and worked at punching
#3 streamers waiting for a phone call - he did not
make it; there were 7 adult and 1 juvenile Red-footed
Boobies in the nesting colony today; we counted
2 pair of Christmas Island Shearwaters - the previous
pair and a pair with band nos: 514-78008 and 514-78013;
there were 2 Hawaiian Noddies in the Amaranthus
nesting area (off SE end of transmitter bldg.) at
night; we counted 7 pair of Sooty Terns copulating.
