Thursday June 24 In the morning went out early with a man who had guaranteed to show us a wolf den. But he was careless of an antelope which it was to poison and that two traps, we found the hole, about 5 miles away, & fur hair upon tracks showed that it had unquestionably been occupied by a wolf, but the sign was by no means fresh. Therefore, we had small hopes of getting a wolf alive we set the traps up & put out the poisoned carcass. We saw a number of antelope but they were all single & very wild - We had a hard day's hunt & a disap- pointing one for the antelope wound but let us approach near enough for a decent shot. They had evidently been too much hunted lately & we decided to move camp. We got two more polecats on the manister traps. Friday June 25? We rose at 4 A.M. but did not get away til 7. It seems impossible to get away on time after a long stay in camp. The old hunter whose point is near me asked us & came for a cup of tea when we left so we rode over while the carts kept to the road. The interior of the gymn was so dirty, the preparations for tea were so unprepared, that we excused ourselves in the presence of
