had followed. By the time we arrived
it was evident that the Samra could
not catch the antelope just so I just
Kublai Khan into a gully after it.
it was wonderful & on my pony
twenty turn after the antelope with -
put a trucky theruin, he knew
what we were apt to do as well as I
did and I had to watch myself & keep
in the saddle when he would hastily
ride steps to keep his nose behind the animal.
in a third time the antelope gave up &
laid down so that I could kill it with my
knife. When the Samra rejoined us we
found that this little grey pony had
stuffed in a hole during the chase and
badly lamed himself, so with its antelope
strapped behind my saddle if I'd went on
to camp leaving him to follow.
On the way we saw a lone buck and
even with the heavy animal on its saddle
my gun myself, a load which must
have been well over 20 lbs. My gallant
pony gave it a hard chase up hill. The
animal did not give us a shot however
for I always managed to keep a rise
of ground between us & himself.
