tips & on the anterior edges for about ten inches from the tips, where it seems off & is lost. The white of the lower surface extends forward in a triangular patch on the inferior edge of its peduncle about 8 or quiches [inches] of anterior to the insertion of the flukes. The anterior edge of the flukes was almost straight except near the tips where it curved to meet the posterior edge. The posterior edge was slightly concave near the tips, then curved very gradually anterior until it turned rather abruptly inward to form the notch. The median ventral ridge of the peduncle is low on the inferior surface, & loses itself about four inches from the bottom of the notch. On the superior surface of the flukes the dorsal median ridge of the peduncle is more prominent than below and extends nearly to the notch. Black above & below - Pectoral fins
