Flukes One edge of the flukes where cut off of an Eskimo looks like this - it is nearly an acute triangle. The ant. erior edge is almost straight except just in front of insertion where it is slightly convex. At the extreme tip the ant. edge curves to meet the joint, & the two edges form a blunt tip. The posterior edge is very slightly & evenly convex from the tip to beginning of notch - the post. edge is & wide, thick - it is about the same thickness for its whole extent. The notch is deep & its post. edges curve almost abruptly to form it - the edges overlap - notch is 42 cent. deep - The thickest part of the flukes is 11 from the ant. edge - it is 20 thick here. This cross section (which is near the insertion) is 138 in ant.-post. dia- meter, 70 cent. from ant. edge fluke is 20 thick. The greatest length ant. parts of the flukes is 161 - The flukes almost below are dark chocolate like back - there are two small grayish patches near the insertion on the superior surface. Pectorals almost as velvety black - dark chocolate Right - Tip wheel phrenures = 148 (lesser greatest) = 86
