bird passed over my head at a
great [illegible] flying close together,
like pigeons. I shot the nearest
one and found that it was a
Fales Harversin, a y.y. bird
in fine plumage. Taking the
boat up river I got 5 or 6 birds
diverse. 2 little Gans. 1/8.
Saw [illegible] very large flocks
of wablos but they were quite
thin. Saw also a Pschilus etc.
probably almost the last. Shunned
bird call P.M.
Sept. 3 cloudy muggy & smoky. Heavy
Gale of wind with rain late in
the P.M. At 9 I took the boat
up lake in the morning &
disembarked at Leonard's Pt.
Stay on the narrows for ducks
for two hours or so, and I got
several shots killing one Gans,
divers etc but from a flocks of
which hit me. I had only
one shot a long one when I missed.
Killed a Pigeons Gans. Heard a ??
Arctious After eating dinner we
paddled down river & landed.
Tried for snipe flushing thru all
of which I killed the first six
without missing. While eating lunch
we amused ourselves with fielding
the chubs multitude of which
soon collected around the boat.
