Noticed nothing peculiar in its actions excepting that it saw rather more rapidly than most of the genus. Continuing down river I saw a pair of Black Ducks feeding in a muddy creek and shooting them I killed one on the water & the other as it rose. Was quite surprised to find that the first was quite blind in both eyes the pupil ring opaque & white. I must have come across a small flock of Geese & Ring necks (A. enipal) & shot the off the latter at one discharge. Also killed a Phy. Politarus & a Gambella and the latter at sun long range. Storm went on to Pyle field in N.W. & made a good bag: 16 par, 20 refic. D. Castanea, D. Penn etc. Sept. 2 Clear & Cool with bracing N wind. After breakfast started for a paddle up C. river.
