Wednesday December 31 -1913
The day slip away so rapidly now that
I don't seem to have time to write my
diary.
Poor FH has gotten ready four mornings
in succession for his trip south to Cape York.
Each time there has been too much wind for
the crowd to get my own the ice caps. Further-
more it has been snowing hard and this makes
the days black as ink.
The men have whistled Sant's snow gloo -
I sleep thru now as my shelter got so full
of snow that it was not fit for occupation.
Jack and El have both tried sleeping in the
gloo but they decided that it did not pay. I can-
not enjoy any fresh air now after the crisp
outside air.
Tonight Hal cut off a chunk of Thanksgiving's tree
on the dining room table.
Friday January 2 -1914:
Another two day have slipped by without
a line in the diary. On New Year's Eve we
had a lot of fun with some baby fire crackers
that Joe had. On Sturgis' day I walked to the
glacier and winter Sant's fox traps. We had
a big dinner to celebrate. Later there were games.
