Made large cache at Cape Russell including provisions, his scientific material + some of my clothes. Camped at Cape Rui where we stayed a day to rest. May 29 - June 2, 1915. Peatody Bay. Weather generally fair with some fog. Spend five days in Peatody Bay. We killed an old bear and two young ones. There were a great many fresh tracks; dead children freshly stuffed + other signs of its game we were after. We made camp on June 1 in Wright Bay upon a struggle thru rough ice. J June 3, 1915. Wright Bay. Weather cold + clear with north wind. Provided C. Calhoun + saw open water with ducks, ants + other signs of summer. Killed two men C. Hadwin + can fish. June 4, 1915. E. Independence. Cloudy with N. wind. Killed bear + ant in Lafayette Bay. Old cub escaped. High wind prevented progress with We camped just south east of E. Independence. June 5, 1915. Clear + cold with N. wind. Running to C. Const. tation + left record.
