The house is very quiet and nice now, since the children hup away. They are some what afraid of Hal who squirts water at them with a big syringe.
Sunday January 3, 1915
Partly cloudy with N to wind - 6°
I have made a New Year's resolution that I am wasting my time writing a lot of useless pages in this diary when my thoughts are to me at least so much more interesting. I have determined to write less in this book which is for the pleasure of any Tom, Dick or Harry who may choose to read and to put more time on my own private record of these months.
Until today I have continued to write 1914 at the head of each day not realizing that a new year has arrived. Of course I naturally wonder if this year is't bring us home and other great changes in our line but at present I do not wonder very enthousiastically for I am in a state of dont - careness.
